1. General FAQ

Astro What's On provides you with programmes airing on Astro with a 7-day TV Guide, Channels' listing, programme highlights and what's popular on TV. With the Remote Booking function, you can easily record programmes remotely through the website.

Yes, the My Astro app, which is available for both iOS and Android platforms on the app stores respectively.

No, you do not need to be an Astro subscriber but you do need an Astro ID to use the Remote Booking and Favourite function on this website.

You can log in with your existing Astro ID or register if you currently do not have an Astro ID/ login. If you have logged in on ‘Astro on the Go' or on astro.com.my, you probably have an Astro ID. You may use the same ID to log in.

Just look for the ‘Register' button on the top right of the website and follow through the registration process.

No, it does not have to be linked when you log in. However, you will need to link your account at certain touch points during the website usage (e.g.: Remote Booking).

2. TV Guide Page

In the TV Guide's page:

  1. To browse another day, select a day from the ‘TODAY' section; or,
  2. To browse another time, click on timeslot bar. Select either Early (12am – 6am), Morning (6am – 11:59am), Afternoon (12noon – 5:59pm), or Primetime (6pm – 11:59); or,
  3. Navigate through the left or right arrows at the top right of the TV Guide page.

From the TV Guide page, click on the Filter section, select one or multiple filters and tap on Apply to start filtering (e.g.: Movies + International + HD).

  1. Go to the Channel page, click on the channel that you are interested in and you will be able to see the full days schedule for that channel; or,
  2. Go to the TV Guide page, view shows that is after the On Now slot; or,
  3. Use the Search function on your top right, and type in the channel name or channel number and view the specific channel's details.

If you have scrolled and browsed away from the current time on the TV Guide, an ON NOW button will appear on the top left. Tap on it to revert to the current timeslot immediately.

  1. Go to the Channels page, tap on the specific channel that you are looking for; or,
  2. Go to the TV Guide page, scroll to the specific channel that you are looking for and click to view the channel details; or,
  3. Use the Search function on your top right, type in the channel name or channel number to view the specific channels details; or,
  4. Click on the Channel logo anywhere within the What's On website to get to the Channels Details page.

3. Show Details Page

You will be able to see an On Now indicator and a Show Progress Bar on the Show Details page, if it is currently airing on TV.

You will be able to see a Live or New tag on the Show Details page, if it is live or new.

Click on the ‘r' icon to trigger Remote Booking function. Kindly refer to the Remote Recording section of the FAQ for more detailed information.

4. Remote Recording

Yes, you can. When in the Show Details page, select the Remote Booking - ‘r' icon to proceed to record and select Single Recording.

Yes, you can. When in the Show Details page, select the Remote Booking - ‘r' icon to proceed to record and select Series Recording.

The icon is unavailable because the time of the programme has passed or it is currently showing. Remote Recording is only available if triggered 15 minutes before the programmes start time.

Yes, besides logging in with your Astro account, you will need to link your Astro account and smartcard to record.

There might be several reasons as to why this happened:

  1. The programme might have already started; or,
  2. The programme is starting in less than 15 minutes. To remotely record, it must be triggered at least 15 minutes before the programme starts; or,
  3. You have not linked your Astro smartcard. To link your smartcard, please click here: http://bit.ly/16y7uQm; or,
  4. You may not be a PVR customer yet. To upgrade, please click here:http://bit.ly/18Df8Gx.

Yes, not all programmes have Series Recording because some are just single events, for example, a movie.

  1. Kindly ensure that your decoder(s) at home are on Standby Mode as it is only a one-way signal from the phone -> satellite -> your decoder at home.
  2. Kindly make sure you have sufficient space or remember to clear off some space in your PVR storage, especially if you are planning to record HD programmes.

Since it is only a one-way signal from the satellite to the decoder, we will not be able to give a 100% accurate response from the box. The success rate is on best effort as errors may be caused by several factors:

  1. Rain fade (it is raining at home / in the area where your decoder is located); or,
  2. Your decoder is not on stand-by mode; or,
  3. You do not have enough space left on your PVR; or,
  4. You are not a PVR user yet.

5. Remote Control

  1. Make sure that your decoder is connected to the Internet, either via wifi or Ethernet cable.
  2. Ensure that your mobile phone is connected to the same Internet network. E.g.: if your decoder is connected to your home wifi, please ensure that your mobile phone is also connected to your home wifi.
  3. Ensure that you have downloaded My Astro app in your phone

  2. You can connect via wifi. Go to Home > Settings > Network > Wifi > Connect and enter in your wifi password with the physical remote control.
  1. Once you have connected both your decoder and your phone to the same wifi / internet, go to these few sections of the app to trigger Remote Control:

    Pull down on any of the main pages of the app (e.g.: landing page, TV Guide, Channels page, etc)

  5. You will be brought to a setup page where the app will detect the available decoders within your Internet network.

  1. Sometimes the decoder loses connection. To reconnect, go to Home > Settings > Network > Wifi > Reconnect
  2. Open the app again to rediscover your decoder and tap on it to reconnect.

  1. Yes, once you are connected to the decoder, just tap and hold ANY channel logo's on the app to change the channel.
  2. Go to any of the channel's page, tap on the more button > tap on the play button to change the channel

  3. Go to any of the show pages, if the show is 'On Now', tap on the more button > tap on the play button to change the channel

  1. There are 3 areas within the app where you can access the rename smartcard's settings page
    • Settings > Rename smartcards
    • My Account - tap on Rename smartcards
    • When performing Remote Bookingv - tap on rename smartcards
  2. Just tap on one of the smartcard numbers listed there and tap to rename your smartcard. E.g.: My Hall
  3. Tap on 'default' to revert back to your original smartcard number if you prefer.

  1. Make sure that your decoder is connected to the Internet, either via wifi or Ethernet cable.
  2. Ensure that you are logged in with your Astro ID and have linked your to your Astro Account
  3. Ensure that your decoder is powered-on (not just on standby mode)
  4. Ensure that you have sufficient space to download the show that you desire.

  2. You can connect via wifi. Go to Home > Settings > Network > Wifi > Connect and enter in your wifi password with the physical remote control.

  2. To access On Demand, press “VIEW HIGHLIGHTS” and pick the titles you want. You may also search the On Demand titles from the Search function.
  3. Click on your desired show

  5. Select the smartcard number (if you have more than 1 decoder at home) you want to download the selected show in
  6. Proceed to click on Remote Download

The remote download button will be displayed on shows that you are entitled to. The entitlement is based on your Astro package and your purchases. E.g.: If your entitlement includes CH104 (Astro Ria), or you have purchased an On Demand show, you will be able to see the remote download button on the respective show page.

You can try searching for the show that you are looking for via the search function.

7. Purchase VOD

On Demand is the latest and inventive way to enjoy your TV. With your connected PVR, you can now purchase, download remotely and watch the latest and hottest content at anytime you like!

To access On Demand, press “VIEW HIGHLIGHTS” and pick the titles that you want. You may also search the On Demand titles from Search function.

  1. On Demand is FREE* for customers with a Wi-Fi connected to PVR
    *Entitlement is based on subscription package.
  2. You can also enjoy blockbuster movies on pay-per-view basis.

With Purchase VOD, you will be able to watch the content via PVR or Astro On the Go. To makesure you won’t miss out any purchased content, you can now remotely download them into your home PVR from the website. You can start enjoying it as soon as you’re at home.

On Demand is FREE for all Astro customers with Wi-Fi connected PVR. Programme entitlement is based on subscription package.

No, the programme entitlement is based on your subscribed package.

Only titles that come with Dollar “$” icon are chargeable. Titles that come with “FREE” icon mean free entitlements as per your subscription package.

Yes. The availability period will be stated on the screen for each programme.

The purchased content will be charged to your monthly Astro bill.

The cost of the movie(s) you purchased will be billed to you and itemised in your monthly Astro Bill.

Most On Demand programmes will be available on Astro On the Go. Look out for the “GO” logo.

No, you have the option of purchasing as many movies as you wish.

Yes, you may purchase as many movies as you like. There are no restrictions to the number of movies you can purchase. Please make sure you have selected the correct smartcard number while purchasing the content.

A confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address.
